PrideWorks 2020 Workshop Proposal
Closing Date 11/15/2019
PrideWorks® is seeking proposals for workshops that educate participants on key issues affecting the LGBTQ community and develop skills for creating change in our schools, our communities, and the lives of LGBTQ youth and their allies.
PrideWorks's mission is to inform communities about the realities of growing up gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender, and to inspire them to respect and support LGBTQ people and to advocate for positive change.
PrideWorks is a conference for and about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and/or questioning youth, their allies and the adults in their lives. The date for PrideWorks is Wednesday, March 18, 2020 from 8 am to 3 pm at Pace University, Pleasantville Campus in Westchester County, NY (about 30 minutes north of NYC). Visit our website -
All workshop proposals must be submitted using the electronic application.
We specifically encourage presenters from communities that have been historically under-represented, including, persons of color, bisexual persons, persons with disabilities, veterans, transgender persons, allies, students and senior members of the community.
We encourage workshop proposals that focus on today's "hot topics" including those that address advocacy and social justice.
We also welcome proven workshops that challenge and enlighten newcomers about issues as they relate to the lives of LGBTQ youth and schools.
PrideWorks attracts more than 600 participants each year from Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, and Dutchess Counties, as well as New York City, New Jersey, Connecticut and elsewhere. Approximately two-thirds of attendees are high school students, with a small number of middle school and college students. Approximately 40% identify as part of the LGBTQ community, and 15% identify as people of color. Adult attendees are teachers, psychologists, social workers, GSA advisors, youth workers, parents or guardians of LGBTQ youth, allies, and part of the LBGTQ community. We are proud of the diversity we attract and serve.
As thanks for contributing to PrideWorks, presenters will be admitted to the conference free of charge. There is no monetary compensation for presenting at PrideWorks.
