  4. Do you want to start your own community initiative for change but don’t know where to begin?
If you answered YES to these questions, 2023 may be the year you dive in and see where your own mind and potential can take you.

Join the SPARK team this year with this unique opportunity that will gather an impressive, creative, and inspiring group of young change-makers that form a strong coalition for positive, sustainable change in their (our) community. SPARK will provide 10-15 young people with a paid leadership training and education with opportunities for hands-on experience in mental health, education, foster care advocacy, suicide prevention, criminal justice systems, sexual abuse prevention/awareness and violence prevention. 

This internship has 4 main focus areas:
  1. Explore the power of the mind and resilience, and how to create change from the inside-out.
  2. Express what you're learning via your creative art form and community engagement.
  3. Collaborate with the SPARK Team and your fellow interns to develop community projects that excite you.
  4. Launch 3-5 creative, innovative, community initiatives by the end of 2023.
Interns chosen will be paid a monthly stipend for attendance and completion of all tasks during that month that ranges from $100-$300. Your payment depends on the time and effort you put into the internship.

Time Commitment:
  • Year-long program (10 months)
  • 3-4 Hours a Week (Group Learning Activities and/or In-Office Projects)
  • Monthly group meetings/trainings are mandatory, dates are available below.  
  • Working on separate projects on your own time. Estimated 2-4 hours a week.
  • Shadowing our local community programs (SPARK Mentoring and Insight to Well-Being.)
Mandatory Meeting Dates: 
These meetings are mandatory for training + learning purposes. These monthly meetings are a top priority to attend. Be sure you can commit to the dates below.

  • April 1st - Orientation
  • April 22nd - Group Meeting
  • May 6th - Group Meeting
  • June 3rd - Group Meeting
  • July 12th - Group Meeting
  • August 1st - Group Meeting
  • September 9th - Group Meeting
  • October 7th - Group Meeting
  • November 4th - Group Meeting
  • December 1st Virtual Meeting
  • December 16th - Graduation/Celebration
We are looking for two age groups:
  • Between 14 - 26 years old.  
  • Live in the Hillsborough County, or willing to drive to our location.
  • Have an interest in creating a positive change in your community, and being a leader
  • Able to produce creative work related to your skill and interest
  • Can work with us in person and attend virtual projects.
  • Can commit to full attendance for the whole period.
  • Are pro-active and engaged and committed to action.
  • Have a specific skill(s) in a programming, community events or creative expression (see examples below)
