Description: Food Insecurity, defined as a family's limited or uncertain access to adequate, nutritious food due to a lack of money or other resources, disproportionately impacts families with children. This work seeks to illuminate the prevalence and persistence of food insecurity among families among families with children in the United States. An overview of the Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID) will be included to illustrate how these data can be used for future research in this field of study
Biography: Noura Insolera is an Assistant Research Scientist at the Institute for Social Research, University of Michigan and Assistant Director of the Panel Study of Income Dynamics. Dr. Insolera's research focuses on the health, educational, and socioeconomic outcomes of income inequality and material hardship including food insecurity. Her interdisciplinary approach to this subject connects sociology and economics with public health and survey research in order to obtain a comprehensive like perspective.
