MICHIGAN - Spring 2020 COVID-19 Indefinite League Postponement
We wanted to say thank you for holding on to hope as we tried to pull off our upcoming league for your family. When we made the decision in early April to extend the league into mid-June, we were optimistically hopeful, we could make this happen. Unfortunately, with the governor’s latest Executive Order on Friday, extending “Stay At Home” through June 12th, it makes it logistically impossible to move forward with a league implementation plan.
Please know we are not owned or operated by the NFL. We are a small business dedicated to providing great youth sports programming to the communities we operate in. Our team is made up of salaried employees who began working on your child's playing experience as far back as December, when had to procure the fields, create marketing materials due to the schools in early January, secure contracts, build the registration platform to open by January 1st, etc.
As a community program, National Flag Football operates each location on very small margins. Hopefully, you can now understand why we are not able to provide full credits or refunds given how close we were to kicking off the season.
Looking at your account, you have paid a division price of $120 to play with us this season. Hopefully, you have received the uniform we have sent to your house. We purchased the uniforms the first week of March, prior to knowing how COVID would impact MI. Because the uniforms are nonrefundable, we had to ship them to you. The cost of your jersey is $35 ($25 for jersey and $10 for shipping) leaving us with a balance of $85.
There are a couple of options at this point that we can do:
1. FULL CREDIT (Minus Jersey Fee): $85 credit good for a future season of play. Using future seasons of play, we are able to spread the expenses that have been incurred during this current season. This option takes your entry fee and only subtracts the uniform fee incurred. We hope you find this fair.
2. Donate Your Registration: You may donate the remainder of your balance to be used to offer scholarships for those in need and ensure the quality of the program you are used to is maintained into the future. Many families have chosen to donate their registrations and we truly appreciate those who have offered this and thank all of you in advance!
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide refunds at this point. You see, for us, your entry fees are what pays our salaries, rent, utilities, etc. We are not a park and recreation department that uses your tax dollars to cover overhead. We are also not a nonprofit that has a backend of volunteers donating their time to run this league.
In addition to wages, many league expenses have already been incurred for partial services rendered. Our general liability insurance has already been paid, background checks have been processed, field permits obtained, teams have been formed, etc. Unfortunately, these outlays are nonrefundable. At this point, the only expenses outstanding are basically field rental, officials, site directors, and awards.
We understand you may not be pleased with these options. Trust us, neither are we. The last thing we wanted to do is let this virus be the reason we let you down. These are not pleasant conversations to have. We are just trying to keep our league afloat while not ruining our reputation with you or any of our customers.
Although we know some of you may not agree with the above options, we are trying our best to do what we can, be fair, and accommodate your family during this unexpected pandemic. We hope this gesture, illustrates our transparency during these difficult times.
We will all be back on the field before you know it and appreciate the game even more. Thank you for your patience and understanding during these most extraordinary times.
From our family to yours, we hope you are staying healthy, safe, and happy.
