ABOUT OUR RACE
The Trall to Ale 10K Race/Walk is on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 15TH at 9AM this year. The race follows the Eastern Prom, around the East End Elementary School, down Fox St to Anderson St to the Bayside Trail, looping Back Cove for a finish near East End Beach. Friday and Saturday Packet Pick up will occur at Fleet Feet Maine Running and the post-race celebration will take place at the middle lot on the Eastern Prom. This race attracts almost 2000 participants, and supports trails, active transportation, conservation, and placemaking all across Greater Portland. We need your help to make it all possible!
Fill out the form below, check the jobs you would most like to do. We will assign job(s) based on information provided. You will receive training info either on race day or a few days before, depending on your job(s).

Pre-Race Volunteer Opportunities

Week of 9/9 - Flyering: Posting flyers and signs around the race course.
1:45-6:00pm - Friday, September 13, Distribute bibs and t-shirts at packet pickup which is held at Fleet Feet Maine Running
10am-1:00pm - Saturday, September 14. Distribute bibs and t-shirts at packet pickup which is held at Fleet Feet Maine Running
12:45--3:00pm - Saturday, September 14. Distribute bibs and t-shirts at packet pickup which is held at Fleet Feet Maine Running
Race Day Volunteer Shifts - Sunday, September 15
Please indicate your preferences by checking the boxes to the left of each job. Please check all that apply.
6:30-8:00 am. Set up volunteers: Set up tents, tables and signage for race and party.
7:00-9:00am Race Day Packet Pick up
7:00-9:00 am. Directing Runners to the Course: These volunteers will direct runners to toilets and the start line
8:00-10:30am. Flagger: Be prepared to travel to Back Cove, if your assignment calls for that. Your job is to direct the runners on the route-and to cheer them on with great enthusiasm!
8:30-10:30am. Water Stops: Pass out water to runners; collect dropped cups and put in garbage bags; set-up and break-down water station
8:30-10:30 am Barricade attendant: making sure that cars to do not proceed onto closed streets
9:15-10:30am. Finish Line: Hand out water at the finish line and direct racers to the post-race party
9:15-10:45am Finish Line: helping the timers
9:30-11:00am. Food/Beverages: Help pass out snacks to race participants at after party
9:30a-12:00. Recycling and compost guru
9:30a-1:00 pm. Party traffic directing: in various locations to make foot traffic more smooth at party entrance and in beer garden
11:30a-1:00p. Clean up: Gather and pack all trash, tables, displays, etc.
Volunteer Waiver for Portland Trails Trail to Ale 10K
I realize that participating as a volunteer at a road race and/or at an event associated with it is a potentially hazardous activity. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to my ability to participate. I assume all risks associated with volunteering including, but not limited to, falls, contact with other volunteers/participants, the effects of weather including high heat or humidity; traffic; and the conditions of the road, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts, and in consideration of your accepting my volunteer involvement, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release Portland Trails and sponsors, coordinating groups and any individuals associated with this event, their representatives, successors and assigns, and will hold them harmless from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event. I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use any photographs of this event for any legitimate purpose. I understand that I must be age 18 or older in order to volunteer on my own or I will have an adult with me.

For Sunday volunteers, you will need to come to the party location before/after your shift to get your shirt. They are short sleeve cotton tees (men's sizes).
