The George and Peggy Schmidbauer Young Artist Competition celebrates its tenth year with its vision towards promoting the young generation of musicians who are our future music performers and educators. Open to string players and pianists ages 15-18 (who have not matriculated to a college institution), the 2018 Schmidbauer Young Artist Competition will be held January 27, 2018 on the campus of Stephen F. The competition holds the highest standards in artistry and performance, attracting musicians from all around the world to East Texas bringing rising artists from both disciplines to compete and perform for lucrative prizes and future engagements.

The Schmidbauer Competition continues to serve as one of the highest benchmarks in the competition circuit and is a catalyst for launching successful careers.
