    Volunteer Opportunities

As we launch the new nursery procedures on Sunday, November 15, we have TWO new volunteer opportunities where we'd love to utilize your talents and heart for children to grow our nursery ministry. OPTION 1: CHECK-IN STATION A central check-in station, located in the CLC lobby, will help parents check in their children (ages infant through preschool age) with our nursery ministry. Volunteers greet families with children, oversee the iPad check-in procedures, print labels for children and diaper bags, and walk new families (or families needing assistance) to the appropriate room for nursery or preschool ministries. Volunteers will also show new mothers the Nursing Mothers Room, if needed. Our goal is to have this check-in station manned with a volunteer each Sunday from 8:30-10:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.-11:15 a.m. while families would be checking in for our services or Sunday School. OPTION 2: NURSERY ROOM VOLUNTEER Our nursery will be divided into two rooms based upon activity-level: non-mobile (infants) and mobile (crawlers/walkers). To support our existing nursery staff in reach room, we'd like to have one volunteer in each room from 8:30-10:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. to assist in caring for the children. To uphold the standards of Safe Sanctuaries by which VUMC abides, our nursery room volunteers must 1) be a member of VUMC for more than 6 months, 2) be over the age of 18, and 2) have a criminal background check on file with the church. If you meet the nursery room volunteer requirements other than the completed criminal background check, VUMC will arrange for the background check paperwork to be processed to allow you to serve in this capacity. A training for volunteers will be held on Sunday, November 8, at 12:30 p.m. or Wednesday, November 11, at 5:30 p.m. so volunteers feel prepared for their new roles.
