We're a great, buzzy venue for book launches! Our bar means our white wine is actually chilled, we 're determined to ensure launch party guests buy the book, and our beautiful blue bookshop makes a lovely backdrop, especially if you want to give a speech. Plus, we're only a 3-minute walk from Balham station.

Here's how our launches work:

- The publisher/author will manage the guestlist. We can squeeze in up to 80 standing, but it looks really buzzy with anything from 30 up.

- We require a £200 bar tab to be paid up front. This is because we bring on extra staff for the night. No launch booking is confirmed until this tab has been paid. On the night, this will be put behind the bar to get the party started. Once the £200 has been used up, we can either run a cash bar or you can add to the tab.

- We sell the books, as well as all drinks. You are welcome to bring (cold) nibbles to serve if you like.

- We generally do launches on Thursday and Friday evenings. We will remain open as usual, so there may be a few members of the public popping in to buy books or perch at the bar.

- We suggest starting at 6.30pm or 7pm and putting 8.30pm as the end time as we have to have a hard stop at 9pm due to licensing restrictions. There are several lovely pubs nearby (The Devonshire, Balham Bowls Club), so we highly recommend having one in mind to direct guests to afterwards.

Once you have filled in this form, we will be in touch to let you know whether it is possible for us to accommodate your launch and to discuss possible dates. As our events manager is part-time, we aim to get back to you within a week. (Please check your spam and junk, as sometimes our emails land there!) No launch bookings are confirmed until the £200 bar tab is paid. Thanks!
