Request to vacate form (due to withdrawal/leave of absence from the University)
By completing this form you are informing Accommodation Services that you wish to terminate your residence contract because you are withdrawing from your course or going on a leave of absence.

You will need also to inform the University, your department and Student Services, that you are withdrawing/taking a leave of absence. If you’re not sure what to do, check the information on our managing studies pages: www.york.ac.uk/students/studying/manage/plan/

Once your student status has changed to confirm that your withdrawal or leave of absence has been approved, we will process your request to vacate. If you vacate early without approval, you will be liable to pay for the full term of your contract.

Your terms and conditions of residence allows you to vacate your accommodation once you have given the appropriate notice and your student status has changed. This is outlined in Clause 32c and is displayed online here:

2024/25 Terms and Conditions:

Students with a tier 4 visa: If you are going to be away from the University for more than 60 days, this could result in further implications for your visa. We recommend talking to staff at the Immigration Advice Service. You can contact them at immigration@york.ac.uk.
