Does the student have any special considerations that would help Amanda Koonlaba ensure their health, safety, sense of well-being, and creative thinking? (Allergies, tendencies, disabilities etc.) This information will be kept confidential and is only requested to ensure that Amanda can best meet the needs of the students. If you are uncomfortable documenting this information here, please share it verbally with Amanda at the beginning of the very first class. *

Who will be picking up your child? *
Your answer
Please acknowledge your intent to pay the registration fee of $25, and the monthly fee of $70 or semester fee of $280. Because Amanda has to plan, rent a space, purchase materials, and possibly turn students away when classes are full. *
What is your PayPal address for sending the registration invoice? You will be invoiced for the registration fee ($25) within two days. Monthly tuition invoices will be sent on the first week of class through Quickbooks. Tuition can be paid by cash, check, card (at class), or using PayPal. There is a white tuition box outside the office door in the Party in the Art Room hallway for tuition. (Please don't hand tuition payments to Amanda while she is greeting students, teaching, or cleaning up. It could easily get lost.) *

I reserve the right to photograph all artwork (in-progress and complete) for use as I deem appropriate. However, I will not photograph your child without permission to share. Do you give me permission to share photos of your child's face on social media platforms, in advertising or on my blog? *
Memorandum of Understanding (The nitty gritty, legal, formal bit. Please do take the time to read to understand what you are signing up for.) 1. ABOUT THE FEE: Amanda Koonlaba will provide creative thinking-based art lessons to your student three afternoons each month for a fee of $70 per month. This fee includes studio space to work, storage space for materials and artwork, materials, and Amanda's expertise/time. 2. MATERIALS AND PROCESSES: Amanda's primary art process is painting, including mixed media. Students will work in Amanda's setting with Amanda's materials. These are materials that Amanda actually uses to create her artwork. They are high quality materials, and many are uncommon to an elementary art classroom. The curriculum for the art classes has been developed, but there may be occasions where students can squeeze in extra projects. Every student works at a different pace. 3. TEACHING PHILOSOPHY : Amanda teaches students to think through creative processes. They spend time brainstorming and planning their own work. Amanda provides feedback on their ideas and instruction on technical art skills to help the student create the work they want to create. 4. TEACHING STYLE: Amanda does not instruct whole group very often. She teaches through interaction and conversation with the students. While students who are in each others' company at art class may have similar subject matter or processes in their work, each student makes their own decisions about what to create. (Sometimes students feed off of each others' ideas.) Amanda does not stand at the front of the room and direct each student to copy step-by-step from her to complete a project. 5. EXCEPTIONS: There may be times when a majority of the group wants to create something specific, something they've seen for instance. Amanda will help the students do this while teaching them to make their own creative decisions throughout the process. The students will still get individualized instruction and use their own creative thinking as they work. 6. OPEN COMMUNICATION: It is very important that all parents and guardians understand Amanda's teaching style and acknowledge that through this MOU. If at any time a parent has a concern, Amanda is more than happy to conference. She will be able to explain the creative process the student is engaging in. Amanda believes in relationships, as well as in being open, honest, and transparent. Communication is key! (In fact, she loves talking about the specific creative processes of individuals and would be more than happy to share with parents even if there is no concern.) 7. STUDENT BEHAVIOR: Amanda is accustomed to and highly effective at working with diverse populations. She has many years working with students with a wide range of mental, physical, and behavioral abilities. If Amanda has any concerns about a student, she will immediately let the parents know. Severe behaviors that cannot be addressed by working with parents may result in a student's dismissal from art class. 8. PARENT BEHAVIOR: Parents should show support for student's creativity and art work. Belittling, criticizing, and general negativity toward any student's artwork or the teacher cannot be tolerated. Failure to adhere to this may result in the student's dismissal from art class. 9. RESPONSIBILITY: Students are responsible for cleaning up after themselves while at art class. This involves washing brushes, wiping tables, etc. They can make whatever mess is required for their artistic process, but they are expected to show citizenship and help clean up. 10. MAKE UPS: If a student misses a day of class, contact Amanda about making up during the same month. It may be possible for the student to come to another class or otherwise meet with Amanda. 11. SAFETY Party in the Art Room and the Link Centre have safety plans in place in case of emergencies. Amanda will ensure your child is safe and monitored at all times. If a child makes a threat to harm self or others, Amanda is obligated to report immediately to the parent. The student will not be allowed to return to class until a doctor indicates in writing that the child is well enough. 12. DIVERSITY Party in the Art Room is open to all and embraces the diversity of the students and their families. The expectation that all students and families will also embrace this is paramount. No human being will be bullied, harassed, intimidated, etc. while participating in classes. 13. OUTPUT EXPECTATION Students can typically create one work of art a month working in this context, but every student is different and Amanda does not push students to the point of frustration. 14. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY Students retain the rights to their intellectual property through the artworks they create. However, the lessons, curriculums, and teaching methodology is the intellectual property of Amanda Koonlaba and cannot be used elsewhere. For instance, a parent teaching an art lesson to another group of people after learning how to do it through Party in the Art Room would violate this intellectual property clause. 15. REFUNDS: Because Amanda may have to turn away students once classes are full, there can be no refunds on the registration fees or the first months tuition. If a student is dismissed from art class after the first month, Amanda will prorate the tuition paid and refund what is left. Refunds cannot be made and credit cannot be applied to missed classes that are not made up within the same month the class is missed. If for any reason participants are highly dissatisfied and wish to end this partnership, pro-rated refunds will be applied to tuition only after the first month. *
