We love to support artists and programming producers as much as we can, however, we can only host what works best in our space.

Please provide links to the music (live performance is most helpful), art, past works, etc. that you are proposing or best gives an idea of what we could expect. *

Expected Number of Attendees

As a general rule of thumb, the garden gets a lot of foot traffic on Saturday and Sundays. 20-30 attendees work best on these days. For days/times outside of that, 30-60 attendees is a good estimate depending on the type of programming.

(Things to think about: Will it be standing or seated? Will attendees be in and out? Will your programming promotion cast a wide net?)

Estimated Start and End Time

*The garden is open Fridays from 5-8 pm and Saturdays/Sundays from 12-6 pm with pre-scheduled volunteers already scheduled to be on site. We require the programming producer to be on site as well as providing one of your own additional volunteers.

Anything out of that timeframe requires a commitment from a 6BC volunteer, the programming producer to be on site and providing 1-2 of your own additional volunteers.

*Please allow for set up and break down time. An hour for each is a good estimate.

*We can provide an 8ft folding table. We also have a small round folding table, a permanently fixed concrete picnic table and a large round table.*

*We have ~10 white folding chairs and a smattering of benches and chairs scattered around the garden up for grabs.*

The use of our PA System (speakers, stands, mics, mic stands, mixer) requires transportation of the system or a $50 donation for transport.

***We are looking for access to storage of this equipment near the garden which would nix this requirement. If you have any connections, please holler!***

We have one clamp light available for use but recommend bringing more lighting if your event runs past 6:00 pm.

All programming must be free or donation-based as per NYC Parks Department and GreenThumb rules. All programming must remain open to the public.

Donations can be collected through 6BC via venmo and cash if you prefer for us to take care of that. We will settle with programming producer at end of your event.

I cannot attend either of these dates but would like to schedule an alternative time.

Please read and acknowledge the following: *

We now have water on site. It is safe to drink but the source is from a garden hose.

We do not have restrooms on site.

No open flames.

We cannot accommodate events that involve cooking.

We cannot accommodate film shoots.

As 6BC is under the umbrella of GreenThumb and the NYC Parks Department, we are subject to the NYCPD rules: no alcohol, no smoking of any kind.

As 6BC is under the umbrella of GreenThumb and the NYC Parks Department, we are subject to the NYCPD rules: the garden must remain open to the public during your event.

As 6BC is under the umbrella of GreenThumb and the NYC Parks Department, any event with amplified sound requires a sound permit. It is the programming producer's responsibility to cover the $45 cost of the permit. We take care of permit application and procurement.

We can provide promotional support via our website, instagram, GreenThumb and Parks Department website, invitation to 6BC Member Network and hang a limited number of fliers, but programming producer should largely be responsible for promoting their event. *The website and social media pages are run by a different volunteer than 6BC event coordinator.*

Programming producer agrees to provide promotional image no less than three weeks before event, sent to our email account.

Programming producer agrees to provide event description copy to be listed on promotional channels no less than three weeks prior to event..

Programming producer indemnifies and holds harmless 6BC Garden and all of its members and affiliates of all losses, damages, injuries, costs, and expenses arising from the event.

Programming producer agrees to leave the garden in the same state in which you found it; all evidence of your event must be removed and all garbage you generate must be taken out when you leave.

Programming producer agrees to reimburse the garden for any damages done to plants, landscaping, or any element of the garden.

As 6BC Garden is staffed entirely by volunteers and receives no state or local funding, we are dependent on membership fees and donations for garden upkeep and expenses. If you have a programming grant or are have the means, we appreciate donations for use of the garden to be factored into your grant budget. Donations can be made via our website or in person at your event.
