NYSP2I Participant Application
Through an authentic research-based learning experience targeting air quality in their communities, students will have the opportunity to engage in personal and collective actions that affect their local neighborhoods and community health. Students will connect to the scientific process in a meaningful active way that addresses real problems and their solutions. Using an Air Beam monitor students will identify air pollution hot spots and connect them to specific sources. After analyzing and drawing conclusions from data collected, students will work on developing proposals to address these sources of pollution.

Teachers will gain an understanding of the interdependence of economic, environmental and social factors related to air pollution, citizen science and project/place/problem-based learning. They will develop turn-key skills and gain access to project curricula and resources to train additional educators in these instructional practices.
