Upper School 2019 HLC Course Sign Up (Optional)
A note about HLC Courses
Bay Ridge Prep offers Upper School students the opportunity to take online hybrid classes through our partnership with the Hybrid Learning Consortium. HLC instructors are teachers at partner independent schools throughout the country. Choosing an HLC course will require you to submit a brief statement explaining why you would like to enroll in the course.

The courses require a fair amount of independent study and written (or other) work in order to earn credit – they are not an "easy" alternative! Students should expect to spend between 5-7 hours per week on a course, comparable to the typical 5 hours + study/homework time they spend on a regular "in school" course.

Students who opt to take an HLC course that is in lieu of a required course for graduation (i.e.: a world language, math, science or history course) will have time allotted in their weekly schedule for that course. Other courses that are electives will be done in addition to the student's regular course load and may not necessarily be programmed into the student's school day schedule. It is completely optional to enroll.

Courses successfully completed for credit will be shown on the student's official transcript, and can serve as a means of strengthening your child's transcript for college admissions.

We will review your child's current academic standing and course selection, and if approved, you will be sent additional information on how to enroll. Note that there may be an additional registration fees associated with some courses being taken as an elective. Students who successfully complete a course will have the registration fee refunded.
