OverDub Club is a new programme run by Quench Arts (www.quench-arts.co.uk) for neurodivergent children aged 11-13. The project will focus on creative music making using ‘hands-on’ music technology and gadgets! We aim for the sessions to be fun and relaxed. Through the sessions we hope to help children build group skills and friendships, using music to support with emotional regulation and building resilience.
We will accept interest in the programme from children representing the full range of neurodivergence. The programme is open to children and young people with a formal diagnosis as well those where some form of neurodivergence is suspected and/or the child is undergoing assessment.
This form is for parents/ carers to complete but please ask for your children’s help in answering the questions! If you have any questions, feel free to call us on 07716 362478 or email: info@quench-arts.co.uk.
Please note that, though the programme has been created through consultation with neurodivergent children and young people, the project sessions will be structured around the needs and interests of the actual children attending as far as possible. There will be an option to tell us whether your child would prefer individual sessions, sessions in a pair (with another participant), or small group sessions. However, as a key aim for the project is to build social connections, there will be an expectation for every child to progress to some form of collaboration over the sessions. OverDub Club is a 13 week project but we will run the programme twice each year. You will be able to tell us whether you’d prefer your child to start the project in August or November.
The project will run on Thursday evenings between 4-7pm, though the 3 hours will be split to cater for children with different needs. We expect that most children will attend for a maximum 1 hour initially and we will allocate timeslots once we have allocated all of the places. The sessions will be led by our experienced music leader, James Stanley who is trained in youth mental health first aid, autism awareness and trauma informed practice. James will be supported by young music leader Tom Culling.
The project is run by Quench Arts but the sessions will run from a neuro-inclusive space we've hired within Sense TouchBase Pears, 750 Bristol Road, B29 6NA. Free parking is available (accessed by Selly Wharf). Selly Oak train station is 2 mins walk away and several buses stop nearby on Bristol Road (numbers 61 and 63 stop on Elliot Road and at the train station).
If you are still interested in your child taking part, please complete the questions below.
