Father's Day look-alike voting
Bob Maholchic Jr. and Bob Maholchic Sr.
This photo is of my Dad, 92, and me, 64. We are both named Bob Maholchic and live in Virginia Beach. I feel great about the resemblance because I am hopeful that means I have inherited his healthy genes. Besides his great outlook on life and active lifestyle, he is a man to be admired. His service started as a B-17 pilot in WWII and continues today as a volunteer at the Chesapeake Regional Medical Center where he works three days a week.

Lee Startt and his boys
Apparently, Lee Startt's genes run strong. When our son, Jason, was born, the nurse looked at him and said there was no doubt who the father was. The birth of our grandson, Cole, and later Drew, met a similar response. (Left to right) Drew Startt, Cole Startt, Jason Startt and Lee Startt

I look like my dad, Troy, because I have his eyes and his nose and his dimples. It makes me very happy because he is no longer here because he is now an angel in heaven and looks over me. Troy Bryant died when Mia was 5. She is now 9.

I think that my daddy, Winfred Thomas Sr., and I share the same beautiful welcoming smile, and I have always been told "You look just like your father," which has always made me smile! I am 45 and I am still my daddy's girl.I have a brother who is a junior but they say I should have been named after him instead.

I flatter myself into believing that my Dad, John Dunn Sr., and I strongly resemble each other because not only is my father a handsome man, he is also a beautiful person on the inside. He is 94 years old and blessed with good health and a great sense of humor. Most everyone who sees my dad and I together remark how strongly we resemble each other. He's my best friend and I can consider it my good fortune that we look so much alike!

People have said I looked like my father, John, as far back as I can remember. As soon as I was old enough, I jokingly grew facial hair to get away from the comparison, but people still made it. We have the same smile, chin, nose, and thanks to Mother Nature, we have the same hair style.

I don’t think I need to provide a few sentences on how I think I most resemble him as it’s obvious, don’t you think? I’m very proud to look like my dad as people can tell EXACTLY to whom I’m related. He’s a great man and I’m lucky to have him as my dad.

I resemble my dad, Willie Boone Sr., with the same nose and eyes. May I also say his big feet and hands, strong work ethic, and love of family, laughter, and life! I am fine with it. He was a diver and tugboat captain. I served 20 years in the U.S. Navy.

People have always told me I resemble my father, mostly because I look nothing like my mother. I do, however, have the same mannerisms as my dad. Even though he passed away six years ago, I will always feel his presence and this is such a blessing.

Jonah Kramer and Michael Kramer
We think our grandson, Jonah, certainly resembles his dad Michael Kramer. See their dark eyes and playful grins? Michael's picture appeared in The Virginian-Pilot back in the 1980's. Now, he's a Coast Guard Chief and Jonah is a rising third grader at Portsmouth Christian. We're proud of them both and thankful that the Coast Guard has brought their family back to our area. Richard Vroman, Richard Vroman, Jr. and Jonathan Vroman
My wife thinks we look alike. I think my son, Jonathan, resembles my dad, Richard, more than he resembles me, but perhaps there is something psychological in that opinion. The dynamic between a father and son is unique and very powerful. It has little to do with physical appearance or whether or not a father showered his son with affection. My dad was from a generation that did not express affection, especially to his son. I knew that he loved me, but I don't recall that he ever said it. Because of that, I tried to let my son know that he was loved when he was growing up, but the words didn't come easily. My son expresses his love for his young sons much better than I ever did, and it brings tears to my eyes when I see him do that. The tears are for what I didn't say or demonstrate to him when he was a child, which is something I can't go back and redo. The only thing I can do is to let him know how much I love him, and how much I admire the way he is raising his sons. Written by Richard Vroman Jr.

My dad, Alfred Fernandez, is the most caring and thoughtful physician whose patients feel such a strong connection to and feel comfortable with. I remember seeing him at work when I was young and his patients always left smiling and joking with him. I strive to have that kind of connection with my patients as I go on in my specialty and want to have that kind of infectious personality. His calm demeanor and easy going attitude are attributes that I value as well. I love my dad, and I am lucky to have such a wonderful role model!

The day I was born, my maternal grandmother proclaimed that I was the most "legitimate looking child" she had ever seen. While my mother was slightly offended at the time (what was she suggesting?!) not much has changed as we've grown up. I'm flattered to look like my dad, Duane Myers, both inside and out. We look good (and modesty is our best quality, of course.) Everyone has told us my whole life that we look alike.

To be told I look like my father, Kevin Griffin, it's kind of funny and strange. I look in the mirror and wonder are our thought patterns the same since we look so similar. Also, it makes feel like I look old or my father looks young — we'll assume he looks young. As a child, I got away with being older. The opposite of this is when I'd act out I always got, “You look too grown to act like a child." I grew to like looking older and resembling my father because I was view this as being mature based on the look of a man who helped me become that way.

My dad, Paul, got the biggest surprise of his life on January 18, 1958. My mom had gone to the hospital to deliver what my Dad hoped was a son. After the delivery, he was allowed to see my mom and she said "Guess!""A boy!" he exclaimed."No."His face fell and he replied, "A girl." My mom then said, "You're half right!"She had twins and no one was expecting it, not even the doctor. My brother arrived two years later. My twin sister and I look nothing alike She has different hair and eye color, she is right handed, I am left handed and just about everything is different. But if you put us next to our parents she looks just like our mom and I look just like our dad. I have his hair color, eye color, his dimples and even his big nose; I could not be more proud. He just turned 89 and up until recently, he had never been in the hospital a day in his life. He has been diagnosed with end-stage dementia and I last saw him at Christmas. He knew who I was. His hair is white, but other than that, I think we still look alike He passed away on June 1.

While I know I am not my father's twin, I happily claim the most favorite feature my father, Bob Anderson, passed on to me —my freckles and my blue eyes. When people said I looked like my mother, he would always tell them, "You better get yourself some eyeglasses." Hearing that would always make me smile because he was passionate when he said it. My father also gave me his gift of gab, his drive for success and competitiveness. Thanks a million and love you, Dad!
