Welcome and thank you for your interest in volunteering for BSides Edmonton 2024!
BSides Edmonton is a two-day annual Cyber Security Conference held in the City of Edmonton. It is community-driven which means the entire event is planned and executed by the generous contributions of time and energy of local volunteers.
This year volunteer shifts start Monday, September 23, 2024 at 7:00 AM until Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 6:00 PM.
Volunteers are required to work eight hours during the event to qualify.

Volunteer Perks
The unselfish generosity of volunteers is something that we value, and as a gesture of our gratitude and appreciation, BSides Edmonton volunteers will receive a complimentary BSides Edmonton VIP Conference pass which includes access to our Speaker dinner Monday night. If you have already purchased a pass we will refund it.
Volunteers are encouraged to get their CPE credits or course credits, in addition to using the opportunity and skills learned on their LinkedIn and resume.
Example Volunteer Areas of Service
- Registration (check in) Support, Check people in and get them their badge, lanyard and tshirt. The desk also tends to act as the information desk as the day progresses.
- Wandering InfoDesk / helper, wander around the event (and outside the building) looking for people who look confused and helping them out (help them find things, answer questions, etc)
- TimeKeeper, attend assigned talks, and use signs to warn speakers when they are running out of time
- Microphone handler, get the wireless mic to audience members for Q&A sessions
- Setup/TakeDown
- Photographer, wander around with your cell phone camera and get candid photos of the event, speakers, etc
- Master of Ceremonies (MC) introduces the speaker then thanks the speaker - also a little having to improvise in order to engage/ warm up the audience and fill time possible while speaker sets up laptop etc
