Nominate Someone Who Inspires Excellence

At New Hanover County Schools, we celebrate the students, staff, and volunteers who make our schools positive, safe, and respectful places to learn and grow. This year, our focus is on being 1% better every day, showing how small, consistent actions can lead to lasting excellence.

We invite you to nominate someone who deserves recognition. Whether it’s a Recognition (shoutout, a social media feature, or a recognition at a Board meeting) or a Character in Action Award, this is your chance to highlight those who model the behaviors and values that help our school community thrive.

Nominations may be submitted for two categories: Recognition, which highlights consistent contributions through shout-outs, spotlights, or Board acknowledgments, and Character in Action, which honors extraordinary moments where someone’s actions truly stood out. Both celebrate the small, consistent steps—and the remarkable events that make our schools stronger every day.

Recognition – Shout Out (internal use only), Social Media Spotlight, or Board Recognition. (If you select this option, you will be able to choose from the listed recognition types.)

Character in Action – Video and Board Recognition. This option is for a single event or story where a student, staff member, or volunteer demonstrated extraordinary character that stood out and inspired others.
