Join us for our next Youth Leader Brunch on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 10 AM-12 PM at Metropolitan Divisional Headquarters. During our brunch, not only will we eat delicious Ann Sather's cinnamon rolls (and other good foods), but we'll also hear from our guest speaker, Blake Lanier, as he talks about ministering to LGBTQ Youth.
In a world where LGBTQ youth struggle with depression, stress, and loneliness, how do we as youth leaders learn to understand, sensitively relate and help those from the LGBTQ community? And how do we minister the love of Jesus in obedience to his example, whose compassionate love was all embracing?
At our this Youth Leader Brunch, we’ll explore practical ways in which our Corps’ youth ministries can best live out love and compassion to help youth from the LGBTQ community grow in their faith.

Blake is a licensed clinical social worker in private practice. For nearly 20 years, he has provided assessment and therapeutic services to youth, adults and family systems. Blake also provides a wide range of behavioral health training and consultation to private businesses and nonprofit organizations. He is passionate about sharing his experience and knowledge outside the clinical realm and served as a clinical professor in the social work graduate program at Kennesaw State University. For the past 10 years, Blake has been a master trainer with Cirque du Soleil’s Global Citizenship Division and trains performing artists and community workers how to intervene with vulnerable populations through arts-based social intervention projects. Blake grew up in The Salvation Army as an officers’ child and provides a variety of clinical services to Salvation Army candidates, cadets and officers in the Central and Southern Territories. He and his wife, Jill, live, work and play in Chicago, IL. Blake is kept adequately fueled by running, coffee and sushi.
