Both Player and Parent fully understand and agree to follow the policies outlined below throughout the 2021 fall season.

If a player misses any part of the full team practice which immediately precedes a game, she may not be allowed to start that game. Exceptions will be made, at the discretion of the coaching staff.
If a player misses the entire full team practice which immediately precedes a game, she may not play in that game. Exceptions will be made, at the discretion of the coaching staff ie. official college visits.
Each player will be allowed two excused absences for doctor/dental appointments, tutoring sessions, etc. However, if the absences are the day before a game, then playing time will be the discretion of the coach.
An individual player’s game playing time will be decided by the coaches. The coaches will not discuss playing time with their parents. If concerns over playing time arise, it is the individual player’s responsibility to discuss her concerns with the coaches.
Any player who exhibits a negative attitude displays poor sportsmanship or behaves disrespectfully towards the coaching staff and/or another member of the team will be immediately sent home with a written warning. This warning must be signed by the player’s parent and returned before the player may rejoin the team. A second offense will result in dismissal from the team for the remainder of the season. This policy is endorsed by the PHS Athletic Department, and no exceptions will be made.
Parents may not coach their player from the sideline. Any parent who does so will be asked to leave the game.
Parents may not contact any board members regarding playing time, coaching philosophies, or any other matter which is under the coaches’ discretion. The board is not involved in any decision making as it relates to individual players.
It is required that all players ride the bus to and from games. If there is an unusual circumstance a player may obtain and complete a release form provided by the athletic department. No player shall leave an away game via private automobile without, before that game, first completing, signing, and submitting the required release form provided by the athletic department. (This includes driving home with a parent or guardian).
Any player who also participates in an outside activity that may conflict with practices or games must file a Dual Sport/Activity Contract with the Athletic Director. Additionally, the player must provide the name and phone number of the club team’s coach or activity director to facilitate a cooperative effort between the activities.
The Player shall comply with all current Poway High School Athletic Department requirements including, but not limited to those contained in the Poway High School Athletic Handbook.
Players are expected to participate in all fundraising activities. All proceeds of fundraising activities are exclusively for the benefit of the Poway High School Field Hockey team. If a player’s connection/relationship with the team ends for any reason, that player forfeits all rights to any funds.
