Volunteer Opportunities: Back to School Events
The PTO supports the following back-to-school events at CTE. We need help to make these events possible. Please let us know where you can help! Check all that apply.
SCHOOL SUPPLY SET-UP DAY: July 30 (9-11am and 6-8pm)
Help teachers sort supplies and set up classrooms. Chairpersons: Shannon Dowell and Sarah Illingworth
POPSICLE PLAYDATE: August 1 (11am)
This is a chance for incoming kindergarten parents and students to meet in an informal setting (1st and 2nd grade playground) and enjoy a popsicle. Newcomers chairperson: Shannon Cox
BUILDING TOURS: August 6 and 7
Many shifts including morning and afternoon available; help show new families and incoming Kindergarten families around our great school. Newcomers chairperson: Shannon Cox
Help sort spirit wear prior to ice cream social or distribute and sell during school events. Chairpersons : David & Sarah Glenn, Jenny Showalter, and Patrica Uthoff
ICE CREAM SOCIAL: August 12 from 4:00-5:30 pm (30-45 minute shifts)
Help at CTE's annual "welcome back to school" event. Chairperson: Ashley Leimer and Karen Kazak
Help with either preparing a meal item or with set-up/clean-up. Hospitality Chairpersons: Traci Hale and Paula Searles
BACK TO SCHOOL WEEK GREETERS: August 13, 14 and 15 (7:45-8:20am)
Greet and guide Kindergarteners and First Graders to their classrooms on the first days of school. Chair: POPS Group
The PTO supports the following programs, events, clubs and services, and we need your help! Check all that you are interested in, and a PTO chairperson will be in contact with you.
It takes many volunteers to keep the media center running smoothly by: checking books in and out, shelving, laminating, material processing, and student book locating. Commitment: Year-long, Flexible shifts. Media Center Coordinators: Megan Droste and Melissa Putts
Bake 2 dozen of your favorite baked goods to share with CTE staff on your selected dates. Chairperson: Kristen Morea
Become a part of this enthusiastic group of CTE fathers that plans and staffs various events throughout the year, such as a pancake breakfast during Teacher Appreciation Week and parking at GRAND-Persons' Breakfast. Commitment: Year long, very flexible with which events work best for you. Chairpersons: Brett Liggett
Help offer and distribute unique fruits and vegetables to CTE students during their lunch periods on Wellness Wednesdays or help with other wellness initiatives. The PTO's Wellness Chairpersons or the School Nurse will contact you via email to determine your schedule. Commitment: Wednesdays when you are available. Chairpersons: Lisa Gross and Kelly Jorro
FALL FAMILY FUN NIGHT: September 26 (6:00-7:30pm)
Help before (setup), after (cleanup) and/or during (various duties available). Chair: Danielle Lehman
Cherry Blossom Festival is back! This carnival-like event takes many volunteers in order to make successful. Several opportunities are available leading up to and during the event that will take place in the fall this year.
VETERANS' DAY PROGRAM: November 11 (morning)
Make a refreshment item or help greet and serve honored guests of CTE patriots. Hospitality Chairpersons: Sarah Illingworth
BOOK FAIR : November 19-26 (day and evening shifts available)
Help support CTE's Media Center by volunteering during the Book Fair. Volunteers are needed to assist with setup, cleanup, and checkout during shopping hours. The PTO's Book Fair Chairpersons will contact you via email to determine which shift(s) work with your schedule. Chairpersons: Amanda Foley and Emily Kreitenstein
GRAND-PERSONS' BREAKFAST: November 25 &26 (morning, before school starts)
Help with setup, cleanup, or serving the GRAND-Persons' in CTE students' lives. Chairpersons: Carrie Franzo, Julie Doyle and Katie Husak
ELF WORKSHOP: December 3, 4, and 5 (afternoon)
Teach a small group of CTE students how to make a fun craft. Assistants are also needed. Chairpersons: Janice Bhavnani, Thetchen Price and Sarah Galante (*Please Note: If you're willing to teach a craft but need help coming up with some ideas, that's not a problem! Look for an email in the fall confirming your spot. Then, you will receive directions on how to get your craft approved and supplies purchased.)
