Thank you for your interest in training to become a
Parent Group Facilitator with Families of Color Seattle (FOCS)! Parent Group Facilitator are the heart of FOCS and our face to the community. We are honored that you have an interest in joining us to help cultivate and sustain a loving community for children and families of color.
Please read the following before submitting this form to let us know your interest and whether you can attend our upcoming training.
Parent Group Facilitator are expected to:- Share the identity / background of the group they facilitate
- Have participated in at least one FOCS parent group (ideal but not required)
- Pass a WA state background check
- Fill out a W9
- Read and promote the FOCS vision and agree to the FOCS Parent Educator Code of Conduct (below)
FOCS Parent Group Facilitator Code of Conduct:
- Facilitate FOCS Parent Group dialogues with an anti-bias lens, love, awareness of participants’ race / culture / ethnicities and affirm parents’ experiences.
- Enhance dialogue with FOCS vignettes or personal anecdotes / examples and most importantly leave space for participants to draw the group wisdom out and connect the ties in parallel experiences.
- Honor confidentiality for participants
- Speak or act on behalf of the organization only when authorized; take care to acknowledge when speaking for FOCS and when expressing a personal judgment.
- Assist FOCS in providing the highest quality of service.
