HUDS Strike Support Petition

We, members of the Harvard community, support the Harvard University Dining Services (HUDS) workers' decision to strike for a fair contract. The Harvard Administration has failed to address employees’ concerns regarding affordable healthcare and a sufficient yearly income. HUDS workers fear that they won’t be able to see a doctor when they need one, and workers with families or chronic health concerns will struggle to make ends meet. At the same time, Harvard refuses to guarantee a sustainable income of $35,000 a year to all of its employees.

Harvard is the richest university in the world, yet it consistently fails to look out for its lowest-paid and hardest-working employees. The money required to maintain workers’ current health-care plans and ensure a sustainable annual income is inconsequential to the University but of utmost consequence to workers.

Membership in the Harvard community is not part-time, and it is not contingent on a clean bill of health. Let's support the dining hall workers who have always had our backs and ensured our well being. Now it is our turn to ensure theirs.
