JVP Mini-Grants for Welcoming Spaces
As a member-driven organization, we are focusing in on base-building as a way to answer some of the critical questions of our organizing -- who are we organizing, how are we creating spaces that foster leaderful movements, and what will it take to transform Jewish communities, and enable Palestinian freedom?
We know that to be successful we need to build powerful interconnected communities which can be a political home for for new and long time activists, for Jews of Color and Sephardi and Mizrachi Jews, for people with more questions than answers, for families, people of multiple generations, and for queer & trans people.
So -- a question for you: Who first invited you into to JVP? What was your first meeting, gathering or action like? Was there food? Did anyone ask you about your journey? Did you feel at home? Did you feel alienated? These are some of the questions we've been asking as we are figuring out together how to make JVP a welcoming space to join. And we hope that these mini-grants can help to that end.
NEW MEMBER GATHERINGS: Each chapter can request up to $150/year to help fund new member gatherings. These can be orientations, shabbats, social hours, etc. and the money can go towards paying for food, space, or other logistical needs.
CONSTITUENCY GATHERINGS: For constituency-based gatherings, each chapter can request up to $150/year to help bring people together. These can be any types of gatherings to build relationships and community. We do request that constituency based gatherings (JOCSM, Queer & Trans, Families, etc.) be organized by someone who is part of that constituency.
Mini-grants are reimbursement-based. Once approved, your chapter spends the money, saves all receipts, and then submits them for reimbursement.
