We know our Imams & Chaplains work tirelessly to serve our communities, going above and beyond any job description. Yet rarely do they have training opportunities to increase their knowledge and expertise in fostering peaceful Muslim families. Since our Imams & Chaplains play the important role of being the first person a community member turns to for help when she/he experiences violence, they need more training to help equip them to address this issue.
We invite you to join Imams & Chaplains from around the country in this 2 day intensive interactive training led by dynamic trainers Imam Mohamed Magid and Salma Elkadi Abugideiri, LPC on responding effectively to domestic violence. Workshop topics will include the impact of domestic violence on the family and community, discussions to develop strategies for effective leadership response to domestic violence, and best practices for domestic violence prevention. Comprehensive resource packets will be made available upon successful completion of the training.
This training is meant for Imams & Chaplains who are sensitive to the existence of domestic violence among Muslim communities, like other faith groups, and hope to become vocal catalysts for anti-abuse advocacy. Successful participants will better understand the dynamics of domestic violence and have new tools for responding to the complex and challenging cases that they may face as leaders. In addition, participants will identify ways in which they may support each other in their efforts to deal with the ramifications of domestic violence in their respective communities. If you would like to attend the training on your own expense, the fee is $250, not including lodging and travel fees.
