Equal Access to Justice - Public Defense Reform
This legislative session, Fair Shot has included Fair Access to Justice, on their legislative agenda. This is an opportunity to restructure our public defense system to improve funding and establish caseload standards to help attorneys provide better representation and better outcomes for their clients. This is our shot to build a public defense system that gives the representation and supports they need when accused of a crime. We need stories from people impacted by the system to help elevate the importance of this. When you share your story with us, you'll choose whether or not you wish to be identified. We will share stories with legislators and our community partners as we organize around this legislation.
