Nominations are now open for the Africa Narrative Change Film Award, sponsored by Africa No Filter. We’re looking for African filmmakers who want to tell better stories and tell stories better about Africa. Better stories are films that show Africa’s exceptionalism and highlight the continent’s resilience, creativity, and opportunity. They are films that entertain and inspire. They show the unexpected and promote the positive. 

Criteria:

• The film must have a story line that is compelling to a broad audience in Africa and at the international level.
• Films that centre new voices, new heroes and new stories with characters who have agency in contemporary settings that reflect the Africa we want.
• Feature-length fiction, documentary or animation films by filmmakers based in the continent or Africans in the diaspora
• The film must be completed and released between 2020 and 2024
