Please fill out this application if you are interested in joining the Near-Port Community Steering Committee for the UIPA Clean Ports Program (CPP). The CPP is an initiative funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and co-led by UIPA and the Utah Division of Air Quality. The program aims to increase the use of vehicles that do not produce harmful air pollutants ("zero-emission vehicles"), as well as to improve climate and air quality planning, at the Salt Lake City Intermodal Terminal. Visit UIPA's
website to learn more about the program.
The Steering Committee is an opportunity for residents of Salt Lake City's Westside neighborhoods and of West Valley City to help guide Clean Ports Program activities and discuss a range of topics related to air quality and energy in the city. The Committee will meet approximately 4 times per year, 8 times total, in 2026 and 2027. Committee members will receive a $100 stipend for each committee meeting attended (in the form of a Visa prepaid debit card). Free childcare, refreshments, and translation services will also be available during meetings.
Committee members will be selected by a committee of Clean Ports staff members based on demonstrated interest and eligibility. To be eligible, you must live in either West Valley City or one of Salt Lake City's six Westside neighborhoods (see map for eligible areas). Additionally, priority for committee spots will be given to residents with a household income that is 80% or less of Salt Lake County's Area Median Income, but individuals of all income levels are welcome to apply.
Please reach out to Caroline Mackleby (carolinemackleby@utah.gov or 385-584-9366) with any questions about the Clean Ports Program, Steering Committee, or this application. The application deadline is Friday, November 28, 2025. Applicants will be informed in January 2026 whether they were selected for the committee.
