Junior Cycle For Teachers / Inspectorate - Step Up Project
The School Excellence Fund (SEF) is an innovation of the Department of Education and Skills which enables schools to participate in innovative projects which are context-specific and aimed at improving learning outcomes for young people.

The overarching aim of the SEF Step-Up Project is to support schools already at an effective level of practice to move to a highly effective level of implementation of the new Framework for Junior Cycle with a view to improving learner outcomes. Schools participating in the project will be required to take a school self-evaluation approach to reviewing their current implementation of the Framework in one or more of three specific subject areas: English, Business Studies and Science. Schools will be encouraged to identify areas for improvement and to use innovative approaches to teaching, learning and assessment to enhance learning. Schools will be supported in developing and implementing actions leading to improvement in their chosen area/s. Learning from the project will be disseminated to all schools. For example, case studies of successful projects will be published on the school self-evaluation website of the DES.

Support for the project will be provided by the Inspectorate and Junior Cycle for Teachers (JCT). Inspectors and JCT personnel will work collaboratively to provide support and advice to the selected schools throughout the project.

You are invited to complete a brief proposal indicating your interest in being considered for inclusion in the project. Schools will be selected on the basis of the information contained in their completed application form, which will be assessed by the Inspectorate and JCT.
Is féidir an fhoirm iarratais a chomhlánú trí Gaeilge freisin. Tá fáilte roimh iarratais ó scoileanna lán-Ghaeilge agus scoileanna Gaeltachta.

Applications must be submitted by 14:00pm on Friday June 15th.
