Sign up to canvass with for the ECRB's April 13th Campaign Meeting!
Sign up to canvass with DSA Racial Justice working group for the next big meeting of the Elected Civilian Review Board campaign. We as a working group decided we would do one action to support the ECRB and this is it!
We will be canvassing East New York (in Councilmember Inez Barron's district) to turn people out for the next meeting. We will be door-knocking, flyering, and engaging with the community to both invite them and educate them about the campaign. Councilwoman Barron is currently the primary sponsor of our City Council legislation and we are unsatisfied with the returned draft we got from their office! It only included 1/3 core tenets of the campaign, and omitted several other key points in the bill, including the expansion of the number of Board members we should have - to appropriately serve districts with a disproportionately high rate of CCRBs. Because of this, we want to let elected officials, campaign, and community members know we are not backing down from our core principles and demands, and hope to strategize with Councilmember Barron about how we can pass something that will actually make a difference to stop police violence!
Here are the dates, times, and locations for each day:
Sunday the 7th 3-7pm meeting @ Breukelen Ballfield
Tuesday the 9th 6:30-9:30pm meeting @ Prince Joshua Avitto Community Center
Thursday the 11th 6:30-9:30pm meeting @ Gateway Mall (more precise location TBA)
