Basic Principles and Practices of Facilitation Registration Form
Westside UU Congregation Common Quest Adult Education Program

Description: Facilitators help meetings run smoother by attending to the expectations of the participants and the tasks needed to meet the stated goals. They behave reliably in ways that elicit trust and allow people to bring their best selves to discussions, planning and decision-making. While anyone can be invited to facilitate a meeting, facilitation is a professional field that includes academic research, trainings, certification, conferences and continuing education. Thousands of people make a successful career out of facilitation in government, the private sector, or non-profit arenas. This introductory session will cover some of the basic principles and practices used by facilitators. If there is sufficient interest a second session will be offered for those who want to learn more facilitation skills and techniques. This session is for anyone who currently has meeting responsibilities or is interested in developing skills in this area.
Leader: John Britt, Past WSUU Board Member and Facilitator of WSUU Leadership Assembly
