About MEDNIGHT: MEDNIGHT is held within the framework of the European Research Night, a scientific dissemination project promoted and funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 101162227.  One of the aims of the project is promoting gender equality in universities across the Mediterranean region. Through this initiative, we aim to recognize and celebrate Mediterranen universities that demonstrate outstanding commitment to gender equality in various aspects of their operations.

Deadline for the Application: 15 October, 2024.

Aim of the Call and Survey: The aim of this call and survey is to identify universities in the Mediterranean region that excel in promoting gender equality among students, faculty, and staff. The selected universities will be recognized and celebrated as leaders in gender equality within the academic community.

(A Mediterranean country is typically defined as a geographical region that borders the Mediterranean Sea or is geographically close to it, and often shares common cultural, historical, and climatic characteristics with other areas in the region. However, it's important to note that this definition is not exhaustive and does not set strict limitations. Rather, it serves as a general guideline to identify regions that exhibit traits commonly associated with the Mediterranean region. Therefore, this call is open to all universities located in Mediterranean areas. The jury members are eligible to reject the application before the evaluation process if there are no clear criteria for identifying the applicant university as being in a Mediterranean region.)

Evaluation process: The initiative aims to select up to five universities from the Mediterranean Region to be recognized as "Mediterranean Universities Gender Equality Pioneers". A distinguished jury consisting of three esteemed members will evaluate the applications. This jury will recognize universities that have excelled in promoting gender equality, serving as role models for positive change within academia. Their evaluation will consider factors such as the implementation of gender equality policies, the impact of initiatives, and measurable outcomes achieved.

Selected universities will be honored at a GALA event in Brussels in March 2025.

Consent: By submitting this form below, you agree to participate in this evaluation as a university and give consent to the use of the provided information for assessment purposes. Additionally, you confirm that you apply on behalf of the senior leadership of your university.
