As you can imagine it takes a whole bunch of enthusiastic, passionate folks to help put on Sapphic Softball.
There are a lot of different tasks available and we want to match volunteers with things that make them excited to help.
Please read the list below and choose one or more shifts that you would like to volunteer for. Below you will see the title, the times that the shifts are needed, and the increments of time that we are looking to fill.
Set up and decorating team: Saturday Aug 29th 7 am - 9 am (2hr commitment)
We LOVE to decorate the fields. We hang flags, posters, balloons, and just about anything else that makes everything feel happy and gay. We also need folks to help us get the fields ready for the players and set up the beer garden and anything else that needs doing morning of.
Raffle/Silent Auction and Merch Table: Saturday any time 9 am - 5 pm (4hr commitments)
Multiple shifts needed, help us raise some funds for next year's tournament!
Welcome Team: Saturday 8 am - 11 am (4hr commitment)
Greet our players as they arrive at the fields, provide information and direction, hand out team packages, help set the Sapphic Softball vibe!
Player liaison: Saturday 9 am - 5 pm (4hr commitment)
You check-in on the teams, give them time warnings before their games start, let the umpires and lead organizer know if there's a reason a team can't be at the field when the game is ready to start, and check if the captains have any needs.
Performer liaison: Saturday 11 am- 1:30 pm (2.5hr commitment)
Welcome performers, show them to the backstage area, assist with any questions they might have, ensure they are ready 5 minutes prior to their scheduled set time (and update the MC with any problems/changes).
Bartender: Saturday various shifts 11 am - 5 pm (2hr commitments)
We're doing a beer garden for the first time this year and need folks who have the Serving It Right card to open and hand out beers.
Drink Ticket Sales and ID Verification: Saturday various shifts 11am-5pm (2hr commitments)
We need some folks to check IDs, put on wristbands, and sell drink tix. Drink ticket sales people will also need their Serving It Right certification cards!
Floater: Saturday 9 am - 5 pm (4 hr commitments)
We're looking for a few people to come and help do the odd jobs that inevitably pop up on the day! This will be a job that helps coordinators to put out (not literal!) fires all day. This could be anything from filling it a part of another volunteer shift, running an errand, making signs, directing people, etc.!
Day of Communications Lead: Saturday, flexible but generally all throughout the day.
Post Instagram stories and posts about the tournament encouraging folks to come out and watch and celebrating queer joy.
Website Lead: Various help between now and game day.
Create and manage or train someone to manage a website.
Photographer: Saturday flexible but generally all throughout the day.
Action shots/team portraits/candid photos. Photos will be credited on social media and website platforms.
Videography: Saturday flexible but generally all throughout the day.
Take videos, do not have to be professional quality though that would be a bonus. Videos will be credited on social media and website platforms.
Take down: Saturday 5pm - 630pm (ish) could be a little later if there are game delays (1.5hr commitment)
We will need folks to help us take down the decorations and pack up everything we brought (and then some!).
