"Preparing Alaskans for Training in Healthcare"
Program Information
These Pre-Apprenticeship academies are designed for adult participants to explore career pathways in the field of healthcare. Participants will be offered an introduction to a variety of health-related professions in nursing and allied health with a focus on entry-level careers. Participants will speak with professionals and take part in hands on trainings. Certification is included as a part of the training and may include Blood Borne Pathogen Certification, CPR/First Aid Certification, or Mental Health First Aid Certification. Some academies also introduce key topics in behavioral health including abuse, neglect, wellness strategies, addiction, grief, stress, therapeutic practices, and mental health while discovering career paths. Participants may explore careers including behavioral health aides, counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and other positions within the field of behavioral health and human services.
