Counselor in Training 2019 Application
Applications are due December 1, 2018.

Campers who will be 16 years old by June 25th of the upcoming summer are invited to apply to the Counselor-in Training program at the Episcopal Conference Center. The cost of the program is $500 for the summer. (Scholarship is available.) CIT’s are expected to be at ECC for the most of the summer though exceptions can be made for church mission trips or certain school commitments.

After a preliminary training weekend with the staff, CITs spend the first two and a half weeks of camp in intense training. They are offered opportunities to shadow older counselors and process what they have seen, and they are slowly given some responsibility themselves. After their weeks of training they are fully incorporated into our summer camp program, assisting counselors with campers in cabins and taking on other responsibilities associated with the camp programming.

After completing their training summer, CITs are invited to apply to be on staff at ECC, beginning as a Jr. Counselor and then advancing to Counselor the following summer. Because our CITs become our future staff, and because they are responsible for the supervised care of campers, we carefully consider applicants to the program. We are looking for CITs who exhibit strong leadership qualities, foster community, and provide an example of God’s love in their lives and interactions with one another. We are looking for young people who are creative, kind, honest, and hard working.

If a camper is not accepted into the CIT program they are welcomed and encouraged to continue to attend ECC as a camper. In some cases, campers will be invited to re-apply for the CIT program in future years, but that will only be in consultation and conversation with the director.

If you have further questions about the CIT program feel free to contact The Rev. Meaghan Brower at director@eccri.org or at 401-473-8718.
