Commitment & Attendance: Participating musicians are expected to attend
regular weekly lessons and practice at home 5+ days per week, 15mins-1hour depending on age, experience, and level.
Solo Recitals: Musicians are invited to perform in 3 Solo Recitals/year. Attendance is not mandatory, but encouraged. Participating musicians will have 1 rehearsal with our collaborative pianist in advance of the recital, with a fee of $25-55 depending on the difficulty of your repertoire.
Examinations/Music Festivals: I follow the RCM music curriculum with most students, and many like to take yearly examinations and/or compete in the local music festivals. I am happy to support your goals! There is no pressure to participate in these activities until you are ready and unless you desire to set these goals for yourself.
Arrivals: Plan to arrive 5 minutes
before your class to unpack and recognize that early arrivals disrupt
other lessons. When it comes to late arrivals for classes however, my policy is: better late than never!
Absences should be communicated with as much
notice as possible out of respect to your instructor's time. Short-notice
cancellations and no-shows are billed the full lesson fee. Absences with a minimum 24 hours notice will "bump" to the next month. Regular absences could result in
the loss of your lesson spot.
Monthly Lesson Fees are due by
e-transfer on the 1st of each month or by cash at your first lesson of
the month. Current rates for continuing students are $40/half hour,
$50/45 minutes and $60/hour. Siblings receive a $5 discount weekly. No refunds will be issued for musicians who discontinue mid-term.
Instrument Rentals
Program:
The student and/or guardian accepts responsibility for this loan and
recognizes
that any damage incurred will be their financial responsibility. Damages
include but are not limited to broken strings, cracks and scratches on
the
instrument, damage to the case, lost instrument covers, broken or used
rosin, warping
of the bow or significant hair loss on the bow. Any necessary repairs
are to be completed by a professional string shop and luthier approved
by BCSA. Upon
discontinuation of lessons, the instrument should be returned
immediately, in
the same condition as it was received, freshly vacuumed and free of any
personal items.
