In the past few years, with the leadership of Professor Truong Nguyen as Chair, the hands-on revolution to the Electrical Engineering curriculum has provided our student engineers with a new way of learning: applied engineering and systems level knowledge through hands-on projects. Please see http://ece.ucsd.edu/undergraduate/hands-on-courses for more details on our hands-on curriculum.
With the Faculty, Staff, and Alumni Family program, we hope to showcase our hands-on curriculum to our Faculty, Staff, and Alumni and to provide an opportunity for their children to experience this new way of learning. The workshops are a great way for Faculty, Staff, and Alumni to bond with children, interact with student engineers, and stay involved with our community.
The Faculty + Staff + Alumni Family Program is set to launch in Winter 2019 on Saturdays (9AM - Noon):
Workshop #1: February 09, 2019 (Intro to Arduino)Workshop #2: February 16, 2019 (Digital Magic8 Ball)Workshop #3: February 23, 2019 (Dancing Robot)Workshop #4: March 02, 2019 (Wall Avoiding Robot)Workshop #5: March 09, 2019 (Candy Sorter)
Workshops are independent of one another and features a myriad of projects that incorporate programming, building, and circuits for middle school and high school students. Families are encouraged to go to as many as they are interested in and do not have to attend consecutive weeks if it does not fit their schedule.
