Nov. 3 Gathering in Kingston: Immigration Justice and Asylum for Marco Saavedra!
As the worker-owners of the NYC restaurant La Morada, Marco, his parents, and his sisters keep their indigenous Oaxacan culinary traditions alive by sharing nourishing food with their community. They've also led a public campaign for their rights and the rights of other humans as undocumented immigrants in the U.S. See their Facebook page -- -- and the recent article, "A Haven in Mott Haven: As an immigration activist prepares for his asylum case, his family’s restaurant hangs in the balance" --

Marco is facing his final asylum hearing next week.

We invite you to join us to support Marco and his family:

Make posters for Marco’s asylum hearing
Share local resources and opportunities to act for immigration justice
1PM: Watch and discuss “The Infiltrators” (a 2019 Sundance film portraying Marco’s activism work)

We ask those who can, to bring food and/or poster making materials to share.

This gathering is being held in solidarity with a banner making party that is taking place the same day at La Morada, Marco and his family’s restaurant in the South Bronx (308 Willis Ave, 1pm).
