Bring your family and friends for a sweet evening of connecting at KKOA's FREE Movie Night with activities, food, popcorn, and more! Put away all tech devices and make some memories. The Movie:

"The Forge" - A year out of high school with no plans for his future, a boy is challenged by his single mom and a successful businessman to start charting a better course for his life. Through the prayers of his mother and biblical discipleship from his new mentor, he begins discovering God's purpose for his life is so much more than he could hope for or imagine.

Dinner - Enjoy beef stew made by Ikaika Manaku from Anahola, rice donated by Jim & Erlinda Rosa, and salad and watermelon prepared by Georgia Ancheta from Crossroads Christian Fellowship.

ACTIVITIES:

Konane Games & Lauhala Weaving: Come and learn how to play konane or find a partner and sharpen your konane skills. You can also learn a new style of making a lauhala bracelet.

OUR PARTNERS THIS MONTH:

Crossroads Christian Fellowship and Ohana Christian Fellowship: Supporting with setup, breakdown, food preparation and clean up.

Hawaiian Checkers.com: Uncle John Kaohelauliʻi will be available to help anyone sharpen their skills in playing konane or teaching you how to play.

Hale ʻŌpiʻo Kauaʻi: Mahalo to Maya and Christie who will be providing valuable resources to help our youth grow through mentorship and life skills training to education and treatment. Their programs support our keiki and `ōpiʻo every step of the way. They can assist in helping young people overcome challenges and find their path forward.

Consuelo Foundation and Kauaʻi Families First: Mahalo for generously sponsoring our entertainment and food for the evening.

Sunset Cinema Hawaii: Mahalo Chris Gamby for bringing us the fantastic movie screen each month for our enjoyment.

Malama Kauaʻi: We are so blessed to have Chef Ikaika Manaku from Anahola providing our dinner as he shares his delicious recipes with us.

EVENT DETAILS:

  • When: Sunday, June 29, 2025
  • Time: Gate opens at 4:30 PM / Activities begin at 5pm
  • Where: Anahola Clubhouse, 3900 Kawelo St (enter from Puka O Kalalea St)
  • Schedule:
    • 5 PM - 6:15 PM: Konane games and Lauhala bracelet weaving
    • 6:15 PM - 7 PM: Dinner with mele from Aunty Ipo Kahaunaele, Ridge & Ricah Nuesca
    • 7:15 PM or when dark: Movie: "The Forge" begins

SAFETY MEASURES:
Children must be seated with you during the movie. The playground is off-limits once the movie begins due to lack of supervision.

PROTOCOLS:
Be considerate of others, especially kūpuna. Avoid spreading illness. This is a drug & alcohol-free event. Use discretion when smoking.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Hydro flasks (water cooler available) We aim to minimize the use of bottled water whenever possible.
  • Beach chairs, mat, or blanket: Please bring your own comfort items.
  • Umbrella, jacket, flashlight (just in case it rains)
