Join local historian Doug Decker for a walking exploration among the layers of history present in the Vernon and Concordia neighborhoods of Northeast Portland. We’ll start in Alberta Park (NE 22nd and Killingsworth) and walk back through time to think about the first people who knew these lands, the origin of the park, the loss of an entire neighborhood of homes here in the late 1920s, the giant old school that once presided over the neighborhood, the walkable system of alleys in this area and more.
