Lets Rock! Camp is an intensive, three-day music and social justice program for adults, a “grown-up” version of Willie Mae’s summer Girls Rock! Camp. The program brings together folks with varying levels of musical experience for a long weekend of instrument lessons, songwriting, band practice, and workshops, all culminating in a showcase concert at a professional music venue. In all activities, collaboration and creative risk-taking are encouraged.
Camp is held Saturday 10/6/18 through Monday 10/8/18 (Indigenous People's Day Weekend) at Cathedral High School in Midtown Manhattan, with a showcase in the late afternoon of 10/8 at St. Vitus in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. We will also have a volunteer orientation on the evening of Friday 10/5/18.
This application should take about 20 minutes to fill out for new volunteers (less for returning volunteers), and it is recommended to fill out on a computer rather than a phone. There is a lot of information in the application, so please be prepared to take some time to read carefully through everything.
All questions below are for both new and returning volunteers, unless otherwise indicated.
While it’s true that we can use all the help we can get, we have a limited number of spaces for certain positions, like workshop leader, band coach, and instrument instructor. Creating a multi-racial group of volunteers that reflects New York City communities and our camper-base is a camp priority. Volunteer positions are not filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
