This information session focuses on basic procedures for developing successful proposals to external funding agencies that support the research, teaching, and service missions of the university and campus. Topics we will discuss include clarifying project objectives (e.g., narrowing the scope of research); matching project objectives to funding agencies (e.g., finding funding opportunities); becoming familiar with funding agencies (e.g., understanding agency missions, application procedures, and review criteria); basic budget construction (e.g., calculating indirect costs); and communicating objectives and methods (e.g., communicating complex ideas in a limited space); all related to persuading agencies to give you money. Food and drink are allowed in the session venue.
