Kids are taught coding skills by people who use code at work everyday. Once empowered they are expected to undertake a project and after a while start mentoring other kids. It's all for free and the only rule is :
“Above All: Be Cool“, bullying, lying, wasting people’s time and so on is uncool.
Parents are encouraged to attend Coder Brixton for each young person attending. The aim is to remove as many barriers that might get in the way of things like this and having parents present solves a number of these out of the box. Coder Brixton is not a creche but is a place where parents will learn some techie skills they can use to impress their friends.
We do not supply equipment this helps us cut out quite a lot of logistics helps us keeps our project sustainable, and also free!
If you have the time to complete this short survey it would help us prepare and help everyone to get the most out of Coder Brixton.
