The ages of young people able to attend is 10 - 17. We are currently offering one place per family and if you have to choose, we find as youngsters move up through the age range they get more out of the sessions.
Kids are taught coding skills by people who use code at work everyday. It's all for free provided by the mentors donating time and our partners Digital Detox providing resources.
Parents are encouraged to attend Coder Brixton for each young person attending. The aim is to remove as many barriers that might get in the way of things like this and having parents present solves a number of these out of the box.
We do not supply equipment and this helps us cut out quite a lot of logistics helps us keeps our project sustainable, and also free!
Coder Brixton sometimes uses photographs and videos taken at events associated with the class for promotion and publicity.
