Technology Options for 2018-2019
Stewartville Public Schools wants to inform you of the options made available to you in regards to our 1:1 Laptop Program. Each student is required to have a device whether that is BYOD or from our 1:1 program.

The optional BYOD program allows parents to either use a machine that you may already have, purchase a device through our partnership with Best Buy or purchase a device outside of the district program. You will own the device, keep it year-round, and be responsible for repairs of that unit.

If you wish to purchase a device from the school district’s BYOD device options program; the district will offset (discount) $100 of that device through a dual-funding program. The dual-funding is only available if purchasing a device from the district’s BYOD program and only available one-time per child. You may choose to use the dual-funding $100 credit as a one-time option up until the student enters 10th grade. After the start of 10th grade, the dual-funding option is no longer available. The pre-approved devices available through the Best Buy web store range in cost from $119.99 to $379.99. This price is reflective of the dual-funding $100 credit.

If you as a parent choose to stay in the current 1:1 program, the yearly cost of the device provided to your child is noted below. This device will be the property of the School District and will be turned in prior to the end of each school year. The District will be responsible for the repair of these devices when damage occurs. Included in your 1:1 program fee will be mandatory insurance coverage. The insurance coverage carries a $50.00 deductible per incident.

The yearly cost for the district’s 1:1 program is based upon your current economic lunch status.

Regular lunch status; the cost is $60.00
Reduced lunch status; the cost is $37.50
Free lunch status; the cost is $15.00

If you choose to continue with the district’s 1:1 program, the payment, as indicated above, is due by August 1st, 2018. You can make that payment now by dropping it off at the District Registration Center or the District Office. Make checks payable to Stewartville Public Schools.
