Programme Overview:

Climate change has become an important global issue of this century since it has caused increased frequency and severity of climate-related disasters. As Hong Kong is a key member in the Asia-Pacific Region, which suffers the highest number of disasters across the globe, the latest information on climate change is important disaster preparedness knowledge for the local community. The Collaborating Centre for Oxford University and CUHK for Disaster and Medical Humanitarian Response (CCOUC) and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Disaster Preparedness and Response Institute (HKJCDPRI) jointly organise relevant short courses for secondary school teachers to be complementary to the secondary school liberal studies curriculum. The course is taught by Professor Emily Chan, who has rich experience in frontline disaster response and professional teaching and will discuss with secondary school teachers climate change and its health impacts, explain the disaster preparedness and response measures in the community and thereby enrich Liberal Studies teaching.
