Join us on Saturday, March 11th at the UC Davis Riparian Reserve from 10am until 1pm (rescheduled from March 4th due to rain). It looks like it will not be actively raining during this time window, although the ground will be wet, so please wear waterproof shoes and clothing that can get muddy. We will be working with Environmental Steward Miles DaPrato to improve native plant diversity of restoration areas within the Riparian Reserve. We will be working in a restoration area that is part of the historic north channel of Putah Creek (before it was redirected south to its current channel). During this event we will plant milkweed seeds, plant various forb seeds into disturbed soil areas, create brush piles to support wildlife, and spot weed forb plots and milk thistle throughout the restoration area.
Meeting location: Near the intersection of Campbell Road and Garrod Drive
https://goo.gl/maps/r7NJKLokNFQKWdeY9 . Parking is free on weekends in the spots along Garrod Drive. We will meet at the pinned location where there is an access gate to the restoration area.
Possibility of rain: Because we will be seeding milkweed and forb seeds, this task is not possible in the rain as we need to keep the seeds dry until they are planted. We will make the call to postpone the event or not by 5pm on Friday, March 10th.
Please wear sturdy shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and bring a reusable water bottle. Water, snacks, and all necessary equipment will be provided. No prior experience is needed and all are welcome!
This event is in collaboration with the UC Davis Riparian Reserve.
