Please note the expected dates of the internship are June 2 -- July 8, on-site with the host company. Additionally, employers are asked to compensate the high school students for 15 hours (3 days) of soft skills instruction at Augusta Technical College May 28 -- 30. Your business's total investment in hosting a student will be $2,340, which includes six weeks, 30 hours per week, at $13.00 per hour, not including payroll related taxes.
Host companies are encouraged to establish work schedules for students that best meet the needs of business, students' ability to contribute to the organization, and students' access to transportation. We also strongly suggest providing a supervisor/mentor readily who is available at all times to ensure the intern experience offers a full measure of training, student accountability, and career exploration.
Responsibilities of the Host Company:
- Keep accurate records of students' time and attendance for the assigned work hours
- Host Company must engage the student in meaningful work and provide tools and equipment necessary for students to effectively carry out their duties.
- Host Company must promptly notify Students2Work regarding performance issues prior to the removal of a student from the program.
- Host Company may recommend removal of the student from the program if the student's on-the-job conduct is unsatisfactory and cannot be quickly corrected.
- Host Company agrees to participate in the Employer/Student Match luncheon scheduled for Friday, May 30, 2025, at Augusta Technical College, and a breakfast celebration at the conclusion of the program mid-July.
