New Media: Interview Rubric (SAMPLE)
Below is the grading criteria for your INTERVIEW podcasting project.
Exemplary (4) - Explains who you are and purpose of the podcast. Catchy & clever.
Proficient (3) - Describes the topic. Tells who is speaking.
Basic (2) - Somewhat engaging, but vague.
Minimal (1) - Irrelevant or inappropriate topic. Does not include an introduction. Speaker/Purpose not identified.
Exemplary (4) - Well rehearsed. Smooth. Conversational. Engaging. Keeps the audience listening.
Proficient (3) - Pacing is effective (not too fast or too slow). Correct grammar used. Smooth delivery.
Basic (2) - Appears unrehearsed. Uneven delivery. Pacing is distracting. Sounds like reading.
Minimal (1) - Hesitant. Choppy. Muddled. Not clear. Too many distracting factors. Poor grammar might have been used.
Exemplary (4) - Questions are asked and inserted correctly to create "interview" situation.
Proficient (3) - Questions asked and inserted.
Basic (2) - Questions asked and inserted, but more work could have been done to make things sound smoother.
Minimal (1) - Questions weren't asked correctly. Too choppy. Not smooth.
MUSIC & STINGERS
Exemplary (4) - Music enhances mood/quality of podcast. Stingers add good "audio punctuation" and help break up the podcast effectively.
Proficient (3) - Music supports podcast. Stingers placed correctly and don't distract from podcast.
Basic (2) - Music and/or Stingers are somewhat distracting. Sounds possibly under or over used.
Minimal (1) - Music/Stingers distracting, not used appropriately or missing entirely from the podcast.
Exemplary (4) - Transitions smooth. No dead space. Volume of voice & music is appropriate. Ducking and/or Fading used to enhance podcast. Cuts/Splits in audio were excellent. No pops or extra words hanging.
Proficient (3) - Transitions smooth with minimal amount of noise. Volume acceptable. Ducking/Fading used. Cuts/Splits in audio acceptable.
Basic (2) - Transitions could have been smoother. Volume level inconsistent. Ducking/Fading needs to be used throughout podcast. Cuts/Splits could be smoother.
Minimal (1) - Transitions abrupt. Volume levels change sporadically. Ducking/Fading needed. Audio not cut/split correctly.
