DRC | SEMINAR "Communication design for the public good: role and responsibilities of the designer" June 3, 2019
_ABSTRACT
Communication design can have a distinctive role in the transformation of public services because it intervenes directly on multiple levels of comprehension, impacting on the behaviour of all the stakeholders. From this perspective, the communication designer is comparable to the figure of a “translator” who performs a continuous mediation activity between supports, media, languages within an increasingly diversified public sector. The translator designer can contribute to the public service transformation making the contents available for use in terms of legibility and hierarchy, facilitating their articulation through graphic editing operations, renewing the possibilities of communicative access to contents (tangible or intangible), creating tools for sharing information and facilitating their dissemination.
