ASAP 2018-2019 Application
The Coalition for Asian American Children and Families (CACF) is the nation's only pan-Asian children's rights organization. Since 1986, CACF has been dedicated to making sure that all Asian Pacific American (APA) children and families in New York City have the proper access and opportunities to grow up happy and safe. We work to secure better policies, funding, and services for the East Asian, South Asian, Southeast Asian, and Pacific Islander communities.

CACF's Asian American Student Advocacy Project (ASAP) is a youth leadership program that empowers Asian American public high school students from across NYC to become advocates for positive change in the APA community. ASAPers learn leadership and advocacy skills, and work on a campaign surrounding APA students. Previous campaigns that ASAP has worked on include: Campaign Bridge, to improve guidance and support for Asian American students so they can be prepared to graduate high school and go to college; Fred T. Korematsu Day, to acknowledge the legacy of Japanese American civil rights activist Fred T. Korematsu in NYC every January 30th; and Ethnic Studies, to implement a more inclusive and diversified curriculum in public schools.

Join the 15th cohort of ASAP to learn about how you can create positive change in the APA community, too!

• Applicants must be students who will be enrolled in a NYC public high school in September 2018. That means if you'll be a high school freshman in September, you can apply, too!
• Applicants must be interested in APA issues and creating positive change as an advocate for the community.
• Applicants must attend an interview at the CACF office in downtown Manhattan some time between July 9 and July 20.
• Applicants must be able to attend the Summer Institute, a summer orientation over several days, in mid-August 2018.
