Rock Creek Education Center (RCEC) is excited to offer a productive and exciting learning environment for all students and staff. Since enrollment in the classes is completely voluntary, we assume that the students who attend are happy to be here and anxious to learn and contribute in positive ways. To ensure safety and security for everyone, there are a few guidelines and rules necessary. We’ll keep them simple and basic. Almost everything necessary can be wrapped up in the word: RESPECT

I will RESPECT myself by:
- Getting as much as I can out of my learning opportunities by being involved cooperating with teachers, staff, and students; and completing assignments.

I will RESPECT others by:
- Following a rule of NO PUT DOWNS! Everyone, including me, should feel emotionally safe at Rock Creek Education Center.
- Talking to a teacher or staff member if I’m having a problem with a student. It is NEVER OK to physically or verbally attack anyone at Rock Creek Education Center.

Making sure my behavior does not interfere with another student’s right to learn or a teacher’s right to teach.

I will RESPECT the Rock Creek Education class site by:
- Treating the people, building, grounds, materials, and resources with care. I will not do anything to cause damage to people, books, equipment, supplies, rooms, etc.
- Putting my trash in appropriate containers.
- Always staying in designated campus areas.
- Never bringing dangerous, illegal, or controlled objects or substances.
- Remembering that Rock Creek Education Center students are guests of the facility, I will treat all staff members, facilities, and resources with the utmost care.

SMOKING
Smoking is never permitted on campus by parents, students, or staff. Any student caught smoking on campus will be immediately sent home with possible suspension and/or expulsion from the program.

ELECTRONIC DEVICES
Electronic Devices such as Ipad, Ipod, any Video Games are NOT allowed on campus. If these devices are found on campus they will be confiscated and returned at the end of the day.

CELL PHONES
Cell phones and Smart Watches are discouraged on campus. If your child does bring a cell phone or Smart Watch to school, the cell phone or Smart Watch must be turned off and put away during class. Students may not leave the classroom to make phone calls or receive phone calls or text messages. Students may not make phone calls or receive phone calls or text messages from the classroom. Students may not leave class to go to the restroom to make or receive phone calls or text messages. If a need to make a phone call arises, please let the program lead know. If necessary, we will allow the call. If cell phones or Smart Watch are out during class they will be confiscated and returned to the student at the end of the day. DRESS CODE
Students and staff should be well-groomed and neat, wear clothes and shoes that fit properly, and practice good hygiene. We appreciate parent cooperation on this issue. Use common sense and dress appropriate for weather conditions.

POLICIES
Visiting the Rock Creek Education onsite classes: Parents are urged to visit and help. However, siblings, relatives, or friends of students are not allowed in the classroom if a parent is visiting. Please notify the specific class teacher and Program Lead at least one week in advance of your desire to visit. We require that any person coming on to the campus check in at the front desk. This is a precaution for the safety of our students.

Parents on Campus: Any concerns that a parent may have with a child other than their own must be brought to the attention of a teacher and Program Lead. Parents may not speak to another child regarding a discipline concern or an incident between their child and another student. By approaching a child on campus, you violate his/her rights to be safe and secure. Since parents have no authority over other parents or children, you must address your concerns through school officials who do have the necessary authority and responsibility for seeing that issues are properly addressed.

Food on campus: Students should have a prepared snack/lunch sent with them to school. Please prepare sack lunches for students; no microwaves or refrigerators on-site will be available for student use. No food can be shared with other students.

Food in Class:
Students will eat in the designated lunch area during the designated lunch period. Students may not eat in the room during class times. Students are always welcome (and encouraged) to bring water into the classroom. Students should bring a reusable, refillable water bottle to class daily. Fresh water is available.

Arrivals and Departures:
1. SAFETY IS OUR TOP PRIORITY. Please exercise caution when driving into the facility and instruct your children in parking lot safety.
2. Parents must park in a designated space in the lot and enter through the main doors.
3. All people on campus must check in at the front desk. Parents will sign their students in and leave a contact phone number.
4. Students should arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before their first class begins.
5. Students are to be picked up as soon as they are finished taking classes for the day. If a parent is going to be late, please call the Program Lead.
6. Students are not allowed in the classroom until class begins, unless authorized by the instructor. Please remain with students prior to the beginning of class to allow teachers to prepare for the day.
7. Students will be picked up in a designated area of the facility. Teachers will remain with the students until everyone has been picked up.
8. A student may not leave the Rock Creek Education campus grounds during the school day without the accompaniment of the parent or authorized adult.
9. If someone other than the parent is picking up a student, a note must be brought to the Program Lead who will notify all applicable teachers. The named person must be listed on the emergency form and must bring a photo ID to show at pick-up time.

Change of Address: Please notify the staff of all address, telephone, or email changes.

Emergencies: It is important that we have accurate, up-to-date information concerning the name and telephone numbers of persons to contact in case of an emergency concerning your child. We need to be notified immediately when changes occur. In an emergency, children will only be released to persons listed on the emergency contact information sheet. A child will only be released to a person 18 years or older. Parents are responsible for picking up their child when they are contacted by a staff member.

Medication: Prescription and over-the-counter medication (including, but not limited to, items such as Tylenol and Advil) must be checked in with the Program Lead. Teachers are unable to administer medication but will be responsible to hold it during the class session. A student can hold their own inhaler but the parent must notify the teacher of its use.

Safety: When bringing or picking up your child[ren] please follow all safety guidelines. It is a safety hazard to have children darting in between cars in the parking lot!

Lost and Found: Lost items, including clothing, may be claimed in the LOST and FOUND box located in the entryway. Lunch pails, jackets, backpacks, etc. should be clearly labeled for easy identification. The LOST and FOUND box will be emptied on a monthly basis and the items will be donated to charity.
